Things you should know about your body

There really is no one size fits all perfect body, our deviations from the ‘standard’ are what make us wonderful. Here are five more unhelpful things people often think or are taught about their bodies:

1. You don’t have upper or lower crossed syndrome.

2. Your winging shoulder blade is not an issue.

3. Your VMOs (medial quads) are firing just fine (just like your gluts).

4. Your asymmetry is NOT the cause of your back, hip knee, neck or other pain. Your asymmetry is in fact completely normal.

5. Your kyphosis and or scoliosis are also normal.

6. You probably don’t need to stretch more. Maybe, but probably not.

7. Your anterior pelvic tilt? You guessed it, also normal.

Ok, that’s more than five. And I could keep listing these all day. Yes, there are outliers to all of these, and cases where perhaps someone is well outside normal and at an extreme and then potentially problematic, but for the 99.9% of us out there all these things are normal. Everyone’s body is shaped and moves differently. And our bodies are actually just great at doing those things. They are far more resilient than we ever give them credit for. They are able to withstand far greater internal and external forces than we might think. If yours isn’t feeling so great right now; come in for a chat – we can help with that!
